Communication Officer intern needed at Digital Gong

About the Position

Digital Gong Technologies, a fast-growing digital marketing company based in Douala Cameroon is looking for an intern currently working towards a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, public relation, Journalism or a related field of study. The person in this role should have an interest in pursuing a career in marketing, public relation or communication and must be willing to learn about various aspects of the digital marketing field.  The intern will enjoy his or her own workspace, and computer, along to work each day. Letters of recommendation are provided along with the ability to learn valuable digital marketing skills.

Starting date: Immediately

Time commitment: 40+ hrs per week

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship

Communication officer intern Requirements:

  • Preferably pursuing an HDN/BTS or degree in Marketing, PR, Communications, journalism, Business,  or related major
  • Knowledge in copywriting, proofreading and editing
  • Must be bilingual (French and English)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management.
  • Facebook account with over 100 friends (Only used to verify Web understanding)
  • Twitter account with over 25 followers (Only used to verify Web understanding)
  • A LinkedIn account with over 500 followers (Only used to verify Web understanding)
  • Instagram account with over 100 followers (Only used to verify Web understanding)
  • A personal blog  with few articles (optional and only used to understand your content writing ability)
  • Stays up to date on new changes to the web and actively reads several blogs
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to the ever-changing digital landscape
  • Ability to absorb information and take initiative on projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).


  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
  • Develop effective corporate communication strategies
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, blog articles, social media posts, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services.
  • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
  • Plan events, seminars and press conferences
  • Build long-term relationships with influencers and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Creative and marketing team
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers and maintain a media database.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
